Eyes Fixed on Heaven

Her Strength and Grace: Eyes Fixed on Heaven Colossians 3:2 “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” We are living in a fast-paced and competitive world. Everyone wants to become successful and accomplished. Our priorities are often set around goals such as education, a career, financial stability, owning a home, marriage, and raising children. Some even add a relationship with God to their list, but that relationship is not always deeply rooted in commitment. If we are to truly set our eyes on Heaven, we must be deliberate. We must actively seek a meaningful, abiding relationship with Jesus Christ. Growing up with my grandmother, she would often remind us that we cannot live any way we please and still expect to make Heaven our home. She clearly stated that Heaven is for a prepared people. Therefore, along life’s journey, we must continually set our affections on things above. When we focus on the right things, Jesus gives us renewed perspective and a t...

Guard the Garden of Your Heart

Guard the Garden of Your Heart Proverbs 4:23 “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Theme: Protecting the Heart Some people might know that I am a self-taught farmer. I truly enjoy backyard gardening. It brings me joy to watch things grow and to eventually reap the fruits of my labour. There is something deeply rewarding about nurturing something from seed to harvest. However, gardening in the Cayman Islands presents several challenges. It has been wild chickens. Believe it or not, these birds are far more destructive. They scratch the soil, dig up roots, and devour young shoots with astonishing speed. Because of them, we...

Lay Down Your Worries

Lay Down Your Worries 1 Peter 5:7 – “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (KJV) I have always noticed how women carry handbags, pouches, or purses. In many ways, they symbolise how women carry so much—responsibilities, expectations, memories, and burdens. The truth is, I believe God uniquely designed women with strength—strength to carry, but also strength to surrender. The theme for today reminds us to lay down our worries. But let us reflect for a moment: Is worrying a thing? Can it be carried or lifted? What exactly is worry? Worry is like a burden —invisible to the eye, but heavy on the heart. People cannot always see what we carry, but we feel it. Unless we open our hearts to God or to those close to us, we carry it alone. Just like a physical load, worry weighs us down . It tires us out. It weakens us— physically, emotionally, and spiritually . Worry drains, cripples, and defeats us. It distorts reality and magnifies fear. We begin to fear things that are...
